About Us

WELCOME TO The Old Bridge Tours & Safaris

We are 10 km out of Central Maun, the gateway to the Okavango, overlooking the hippo pool is The Old Bridge Backpackers.

This venue is a Backpackers in the sense that it has been created with an understanding of people who choose to travel independently rather than prebooking package tours.

“The Bridge” provides a comfortable base in Maun from which you can enjoy the varied amazing sites and activities that this region has to offer.

We have a limited number of campsites for travelers with their own tents, a few of which are drive in sites. There is one site for larger groups. We have 10 furnished tents made up as either doubles or twins. Our 5 riverside tents have en-suite facilities. The 5 tents without en-suite facilities are set back from the riverside.

We have taken over management of the nearby “Maun Rest Camp” in order to expand our campsite capability. Through this development we are now able to offer ample campsites including drive-in sites along the river. “Maun Rest Camp” has a small personalised bar and self catering kitchen, guests staying there are welcome to make use of the facilities at The Old Bridge.

Highlights

  • Our kitchen with a-la-carte menu opens at 7 in the morning and closes at 8 in the evening.
  • For those who prefer to self-cater there is a convenient and fully equipped kitchen.
  • We have a popular and sometimes festive bar set between old, weathered lead-wood logs. Evenings are dimly lit with good music floating through the air (the bar opens at 11am and closes at 9pm). You will always find a fire on a cold winters night and a cosy TV lounge that may be used on request.
  • Situated between the main building and the campsites you find open air hot showers and flush toilets built from natural materials. They are always kept spotlessly clean.
  • Our friendly staff, who we consider to be our biggest asset, will ensure that you have nothing but fond memories to take home with you.
  • We run a variety of activities that one can do in Maun, and run Safaris to the Okavango, Moremi and all the Wildlife Parks in the area.
  • Budget self-catered Mokoro safaris are organised with the community trust, they are a good way for visitors with limited time to have an affordable Okavango experience. We are also happy to give good advice to those of you with your own transport.
